And the latest technology in the "Multi-Technology-Mix" is called FIBRE TO THE CURB (FTTC), whereas the fibre stops at a pit or on a pole in the street nearby.  The lead-in cable to your home will be the existing copper phone cable.  Because this is usually very short and not shared with anyone else you can reasonably expect to have your 100 Mbps service quite comfortably on that.
